Task and operator chairs
Task chairs are the workhorses of an office, and the category where spending a little more pays back fastest. If someone sits at a desk all day, this is their chair.
What to insist on
- Seat height adjustment, so feet sit flat with knees at roughly a right angle.
- Back angle with a lock, so the chair can be fixed upright for focused work and released for reading.
- Lumbar support that moves up and down, not just in and out. Backs differ more in height than people expect.
- Seat depth adjustment if the chair is shared or hot-desked.
What you can skip
Headrests are useful for reclining and irrelevant for typing. Armrests matter, but only if they drop low enough to slide under the desk, otherwise they push the user back and undo the point of them.
If the budget is tight, put it into the mechanism rather than the upholstery. Choose from mesh task chairs for warmer rooms and fabric task chairs for cooler ones.
Ranges we stock
Eclipse and Chiro are the dependable everyday choices, Ergo and Flex cover the more adjustable end, and Cosmo sits between the two. All are available through the wider office chairs and seating range.
Choose the back material to suit the room: mesh for warm offices, fabric for cooler ones.
