Chair spares and parts
Two parts account for most chair failures, and both are inexpensive: the gas lift and the castors. Keeping a few on a shelf turns a broken chair into a five-minute repair.
Castors
Castors wear out and, more often, are simply the wrong type. Hard castors on a hard floor damage the floor and roll away from the user; soft castors are the correct choice there. On carpet it is the reverse. Getting this right removes a surprising number of complaints.
Gas lifts
If a chair sinks under someone during the day, the gas lift has gone. They are standardised enough that a replacement usually fits, and swapping one takes a few minutes. That is worth knowing before writing off an otherwise good chair.

Castors, gas lifts and replacement bases for the ranges we sell, including Eclipse, Chiro and Cosmo. If you are ordering a set of task chairs or mesh office chairs, adding a couple of spares to the order costs very little and saves a chair being scrapped later.
