Height decides the use
Standard height suits laptop work. Poseur height suits stand-up conversations and keeps them short, which is sometimes exactly what you want next to a busy floor. Low tables suit lounge seating and almost nothing else.
Pair them properly
A shaped table with the wrong seating is furniture nobody uses. Match standard-height tables with café and bistro seating, and low tables with sofas and armchairs.
Sizing for a breakout area
Small tables get used, large ones become dumping grounds. Two or three small tables seat more people in more combinations than one big one, and they can be pushed together when a group needs them.
Leave a clear route past them. A breakout table that narrows a walkway makes the whole area feel like an obstacle rather than somewhere to sit.
