The table that gets chosen by shape and regretted by size. Measure the room, then measure the clearance around the table, then choose.
Sizing
Allow 600mm of edge per person as a minimum, 700mm with laptops. Then leave a metre behind every chair so people can get out without a chain reaction. A table that seats ten on paper usually seats eight in comfort.
Specify power now, not later
Retro-fitting a power module means drilling a finished table, and it never looks the same. If the room will host anything longer than half an hour, get power in at the start. See cable management and electrical.
Shape
Rectangular tables suit presentations, where everyone needs to face one end. Boat-shaped tables narrow the ends so people across the middle can see each other, which suits discussion. Round tables seat fewer people but flatten the hierarchy in the room.
Choose the shape for the meetings you actually hold, not the ones in the brochure photograph.
