Soft seating and reception
Furniture for the front of the building and the spaces between meetings. Reception is the room most likely to be judged and least likely to be planned.
What goes where
- Sofas and armchairs for reception, where waiting is the only task and deep seating is right.
- Modular seating for breakout areas that change shape.
- Privacy booths and pods for calls and focused work.
- Coffee and occasional tables at or just below seat height.
The mistake worth avoiding
Low, deep seating looks relaxed and is close to useless for working. If people will take a laptop there, choose seating at normal chair height with a firm base. That single decision explains most breakout areas that sit empty.
